A wheel or Pelton runner in a stream driving a shaft, and the shaft driving the machine directly: a pump, a grinder, a washing drum, a workshop tool. Skips the two conversions a micro-hydro turbine makes, water to electricity and electricity back to motion, and the losses and the electronics that go with them. In exchange the work has to happen where the water is, and only while the water runs. The one row in this catalogue that produces mechanical energy without a person turning a handle.
