Needs power
A small combustion engine driving a pump, a splitter, a tiller or a winch directly off its shaft. The answer where the work is away from any wiring and heavier than a person can do, which is why it is the conventional choice on a smallholding. It keeps running when the grid does not, and that is its one resilience argument. Against it: it needs fuel somebody delivers, it is loud, it cannot be run indoors, and it wants servicing on a schedule rather than when it breaks.
